Hollyoaks’ Kéllé Bryan confirms an exit as Martine Deveraux

Hollyoaks fans will bid farewell to Kéllé Bryan’s character, Martine Deveraux, later today (June 3).

The former Eternal singer joined the soap four years agobut during her last panel appearance on Loose WomenBryan has announced that she is stepping down from the role.

Accepting the Hollyoaks Gigo proved a giant undertaking for Bryan as early as 2018, after suffering a stroke just a year earlier.

“I was really worried. A lot. And I was worried if it was too early. I thought it was going to be too soon because it’s very hard work,” she said in 2019. “It’s not like a drama where you have time to practice. It’s, ‘Here you go, read through, shoot.’

“Learning to read and write was a big deal for me again, so putting myself in a soap opera … I get manuscripts every day. That’s out of my comfort zone.”

Hollyoaks now streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping every weekday morning. The show airs Monday to Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
