It is the first time that the initial union has been decided by the public, as previous years have put power in the hands of the contestants.

One angry fan wrote on Twitter: ‘So they basically separated the pairs like two black pairs and three white pairs … do I get that?’

Another said: “As soon as she said that the public would unite the couples, I just knew that the blacks would all be united. Why did the producers think that was a good idea? ‘

A third called the union “so predictable”, while a quarter said it was “so embarrassing to see the public match the black contestants only together”.

During Tuesday night’s episode, Love Island fans explained their feelings after Davide Sanclimenti chose to team up with Gemma Owen in the first reunion of the series.

Watching the scenes unfold, fans slammed the 27-year-old Italian’s blow to picking the wrong girl and claimed he had made a “mistake” after stealing the beautiful 19-year-old away from her partner Liam Llewellyn.

Meanwhile, despite the fact that they are both consensual adults, fans also shared their discomfort due to the couple’s eight-year age gap, with some wondering why Davide would choose someone so young.

His choice: During Tuesday night’s broadcast, Love Island fans explained their feelings after Davide Sanclimenti chose to join Gemma Owen in the first reunion of the series.

In the tense episode, Davide’s decision left Gemma’s partner Liam single and vulnerable, with the Masters a student at risk of being evicted from the villa.

And while Liam was definitely unimpressed by the new couple, so was the public when they expressed their dismay at the pairing.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote, ‘I feel like it was so obvious that Davide would pick Gemma but they just DIDN’T work.’

While another said, “David chose Gemma to be a big mistake, Brother Feel for that Liam boy.”

Third wrote: “He really chose Gemma for something other than her appearance, she said nothing remotely interesting.”

“Gemma and Davide must be the least compatible couple I’ve ever seen,” smoked a fourth.

With a fifth addition: ‘Why did David choose Gemma, I thought he wanted to find that one.’

Problem? Meanwhile, despite the fact that they are both consensual adults, fans also shared their discomfort due to the couple’s eight-year age gap, with some wondering why Davide would choose someone so young.
