Love Island: Meet Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma

Michael Owen had no choice but to face jokes about his daughter Gemma entering the Aminsulo villa ahead of England’s clash with Germany on Tuesday evening.

Gemma, 19, is one of the favorites to win the popular reality TV show thanks to her famous dad. Owen was working as an expert for Channel 4 coverage of the Nations League game when a joke about his daughter’s career was made by a presenter. Jules Breach only seconds in the program.

“Join me hoping to see another famous victory for England tonight in Munich, England and Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs, former England, West Ham and Chelsea middle Joe Cole and Love Island’s father Gemma Owen“joked Breach as coverage began.

The new Love Island series began Monday night, with Gemma one of 11 contestants currently in the iconic villa. Breach went on to ask Owen, “Great night for Owen Michael’s last night, how are you?”

And former England international Owen wanted to move on from the inevitable jokes when he replied: “I came all the way to Germany to try to avoid all this at home, but it was immediately brought!

“But I’m fine. This is taking my mind off it, so don’t bring it back.”

Owen was one of the best strikers of his generation, playing for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Manchester United and Stoke before hanging up his boots in the summer of 2013. He was also a regular for England, scoring 40 goals in 89 senior appearances.

Owen won the Golden Ball in 2001 – the most glorious individual award in football – as well as nine trophies. His honors include the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Cup and three EFL Cups. He was also named the Best Young Player at the 1998 World Cup.

When asked about Gemma entering the Love Island villa earlier this month, Owen said ITV News: “I have no doubt she’ll make us all proud. It’s probably Dad’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do. You have to be helpful.”

Owen added: “It’s different without her in the house. I have other kids and my wife and it was pretty hard because she had to turn off her phone and we didn’t have contact for a few weeks, so that was the hard part.

“I’ve heard a lot about it. I think old, grumpy men like me will always have an opinion on it because I don’t look at it and you only hear the snippets, but she assures me it’s not as bad as I am. Think. So , we’ll give her a watch and I hope she enjoys it. “

Gemma said The Metro before entering the villa: “My dad said to me, ‘I’m not going to tell you what you can and can’t do, it’s up to you to make your own decisions.’

“I’m very close to my family, so I wouldn’t do anything that would deliberately disrespect or embarrass them. I’m very aware of what they might feel uncomfortable about.”
